Project SHARE distributes food boxes in the week of the 3rd Thursday of each month. Each food box contains 55-65 nutritious food items, approximately one week’s groceries for a family of four. Project SHARE uses a client choice model empowering our recipients to choose the groceries they need. This model strengthens self-worth and value among our clients who often feel powerless.
Fifteen teams of volunteers also deliver food to some 95 housebound households. Eligibility is 150% of the poverty level. We serve about 1,000 households each month, approximately 20% are seniors and 30% are children.
More than 350 volunteers help us prepare and hand out food during our distribution week. Personal interaction amongst our volunteers and recipients allows for the sharing of gratitude and concerns. In this way, Project SHARE affirms everyone’s humanity.
See our event calendar for the dates and times distribution volunteers are needed.
