Services Offered

Project SHARE distributes food the week of the 3rd Thursday of each month. Each food box contains 55-65 nutritious food items, approximately one week’s groceries for a family of four.  Project SHARE uses a client choice model empowering you to select only the groceries you will use and need. Project SHARE also has a baby room which provides diapers, formula, and baby food for infants.

Eligibility is 150% of the poverty level and everyone must fill out a self-declaration of need (in person) to see if they meet this guideline. Everyone receives food the first time they come to Project SHARE, even if they don’t qualify for distribution. Our volunteers can also connect you with other agencies that might be able to help.  Please bring your ID when you come to fill out paperwork the week of distribution.  See our calendar for distribution dates and times.

Located on the corner of Pitt and Lincoln street, the Project SHARE farm stand provides fresh produce and other miscellaneous food items. The farms stand is available to anyone in need and may be visited as often as needed. The farm stand is closed during the week of distribution.  See our calendar for the farm stand’s hours of operation.

Seasonal clothing is offered in our clothing room every Wednesday from 2 – 4 pm, except the week of distribution.  Clothing is available for men, women, children and infants and is dependent on what is donated by the community. The clothing room is open to anyone who needs it.  You may also give back and donate any clothing you are no longer using as long as it is in good shape.

If you are over 60, you might be eligible to receive a Senior Box from the Commodity Supplemental Food Program.  The box includes 4 packages of vegetables, 2 packages of fruit, juice, 1 canned meat, 1 protein, 1 carbohydrate, 2 cereals or 1 bag of oats, evaporated milk and cheese. Senior boxes are distributed during our monthly distributions to those who qualify.  A senior must appear in person to fill out the paperwork and provide an ID and proof of income.  This process can be completed at any time.

In addition to providing as much fresh produce and healthy food choices as possible, Project SHARE is committed to teaching you how to make wise choices and meals for your family.  Take advantage of our recipes and ideas in the kitchen during distribution.  The Food for Life ladies prepare healthy meals and snacks that you can make for your family.  We also have materials that teach you about correct portion sizes and the number of servings from each food group you should be getting every day.

Enroll in one of our cooking classes, too!  We have “Kids in the Kitchen” for children ages 5 – 12 that meets the last Wednesday of every month from 4 – 5:30 pm.  We also have an adult, hands-on, cooking class called “What to do With…” that prepares recipes based on seasonal produce in the Project SHARE kitchen.  Class is taught on a Thursday evening and a Friday afternoon.  All ingredients are provided and everyone gets to eat what is prepared!  Call Project SHARE for more details.
